About me

Vova
Egoshin

Hey! I'm Vova: designer, art director and lettering artist. For 10+ years I've been drawing letters that work: typefaces, logotypes, calligraphy.

LIDAR SCAN · 1:1

I started out as a graphic designer and art director: glossy magazines, UI, mobile games, identity. Letters were part of the job at first, then became the whole job, then simply won. These days I live in Bali and draw for clients worldwide.

I've drawn lettering and type for Disney and Coca-Cola, and made the Triumph Bonneville Bobber motorcycle logotype together with London studio Face37. My typeface Choowee became the brand font of Jaffa: my letters sell oranges around the globe.

My special love: Cyrillic. I extend Latin typefaces with Cyrillic you can't tell from the original. type.today highlighted my Cyrillic in their roundup of good Cyrillic fonts, and my work has been featured in Behance's curated Typography gallery nine times.

What I believe in

01A typeface is a character, not just a set of letters.
02Good Cyrillic starts with respect for detail.
03Variable multi-axis families: not a feature, freedom.
04An experiment beats a safe repeat.
Case study

Choowee × Jaffa

My typeface Choowee was chosen as the primary brand font for the rebrand of Jaffa, one of the world's leading citrus brands. The work was done by London's Earthling Studio, and design press noted the typeface is “so extravagant it works almost as illustration”.
